"Warm Leatherette" is a song originally written and recorded by Daniel Miller's project, The Normal, and released way back in 1978. The lyrics reference J.G. Ballard's controversial 1973 novel 'Crash' and it has since been described as having "revolutionised electronic music with its punk aesthetic, stark sound and dark subject matter" and has been covered by numerous artists. These now include New Party Army
Feel the crushing steel, feel the steering wheel
Feel the crushing steel, feel the steering wheel
Feel the crushing steel, feel the steering wheel
Feel the crushing steel, feel the steering wheel
Warm leatherette melts on your burning flesh
You can see your reflection on the luminescent dash
Warm leatherette melts on your burning flesh
You can see your reflection on the luminescent dash
Feel the crushing steel, feel the steering wheel
Feel the crushing steel, feel the steering wheel
Feel the crushing steel, feel the steering wheel
Feel the crushing steel, feel the steering wheel
A tear of petrol is in your eye
The hand brake penetrates your thigh
A tear of petrol is in your eye
Quick, let's make love before we die
On warm leatherette, on warm leatherette, On warm leatherette, on warm leatherette
Warm leatherette, warm leatherette, Warm leatherette, warm leatherette
